Tesla Model S P85 × Avant Garde M510
July 7, 2017
Despite the fact that the Tesla Model S has been out for about five years now, the aftermarket for Tesla still remains relatively small. With a revolutionary new platform and the new technology that comes with it, developing unique aftermarket options can be difficult. Because of this, one of the best ways to set your Model S apart is to upgrade from the OEM wheels.
Although we now offer 19″, 20″, 21″ and 22″ options for both the Model S and Model X, this feature focuses on one of the earliest sets we installed back at the start of 2013 for a Model S P85. One dilemma we regularly encounter from Tesla owners is whether to go with a 19″ or a larger 21″ wheel: 19s offer a more comfortable ride and greater range, while 21s are far more imposing on a large vehicle like the Model S. We’ve learned over the years that most owners prefer a 20″, the best option for a larger wheel without sacrificing ride comfort.
After test-fitting a variety of wheels on this P85, the owner opted for a set of 20×8.5″ / 20×10″ M510 wheels in our standard Satin Silver finish, a direct bolt-on from one of our stock fitments with no additional modifications required. The owner favored the M510 because the split-five-spoke design gives the Tesla a sportier look while clearing the large OEM brake calipers, and the staggered widths let our deep-concave 20×10″ sit on the rear to accentuate the coupe-like lines.
